260 Iraqi Police Killed Since May 1 Middle East Online 12-19-3

BAGHDAD - Some 260 members of the new Iraqi security forces have been killed in attacks since the end of the US-led war to oust Saddam Hussein, a senior police official said Friday.

At least nine police stations have been targeted in car bomb attacks in Iraq during last two months.

'We pay tribute to the 260 police officers who died as martyrs in attacks on police stations and other attacks in Baghdad and elsewhere in Iraq,' General Sami al-Waili told the Iraqi TV station set up by the US-led coalition.

He said the new police force formed following the ousting of Saddam last April had 'seen heavy sacrifices in action for the maintenance of law and order.'

His statement was made on the 31st anniversary of the creation of the Iraqi police under Saddam's former regime.

At least nine police stations have been targeted in car bomb attacks in Baghdad and areas south of the capital during the last two months. The attacks are blamed on Saddam supporters targetting 'collaborators' with the occupying forces.

More than 230 police officers across the US were killed in the line of duty during 2001, while 56 were killed in the line of duty in 2002. Iraq has obviously had a bad year. To say that no one gives a shit is just plain

Years ago, I was doing some research and had to read a (British) newspaper concerning some riot in 1920s India.

The headline as I recall was that a British Police Officer had been killed by the mob. Right down at the bottom in the last paragraph it mentioned that 37 Indians had also been killed.

It's the same here- nobody in the US is interested to hear about hundreds of Iraqi deaths. The rebels should concentrate on killing photogenic blonde American supermodels, then they would be on the front page every day.

Of course we do. Our Democrat politicians are nothing but bad news about Iraq which serves to feed the Iraqi resistors with glee. We didn't kill those people, Saddam's thugs did. We want order and stability and have lost hundreds of our people doing so. A characterization of injustice has been wrought by Warfog as intended to further his political bias.

How can human death be so openly wanted but by inhuman thoughts. I've answered my own question.
