The magical month of May has arrived and Our Lady Heidi Klum is expected to give birth any day now.
I am full of excitement and sweet anticipation, while I await the birth of my third daughter, Leni Kaffes Klum, and my mind goes back to May 1987, when my first daughter, Caterina Cleopatra Kaffes, was born.
Dina and I had some very good sessions around August 16, 1986, the birthday of the singer Madonna, that I used to be obsessed with back then, and Dina became pregnant, with her original due date being May 10, 1987, Mother's Day for that year.
As I have detailed in my groundbreaking message 'Kansan's three scars' of April 29, 2004, Dina and I had had difficulty conceiving children and consulted many specialists over a period of more than five years. Finally, God blessed us with a successful pregnancy and Dina's parents, Demetrios and Irene Kesmetzis, flew over from Greece to be with us and help Dina with the baby for the first few weeks.
Mother's Day, Sunday, May 10, came, but Dina showed no signs that she was about to deliver. All four of us went to Church and all our friends there were asking about the impending delivery. We were a little disappointed and anxious for the birth to come. Over the next couple of days there were no delivery signs and Dina saw her doctor, who consulted some more patience.
On Wednesday, May 13, I was at work, as usual. At the time I used to work for the Research and Development division of Merck, the World's largest prescription drug manufacturer, in Rahway, New Jersey. At around 2:30 pm they called me from home, that I had to get back right away, Dina was about to deliver!
I drove back to Bridgewater, New Jersey, near Interstate 287, where we used to live, and picked up Dina and her parents to drive to the hospital in New York City. Because of our difficulties, we had consulted specialists on New York's fashionable Park Avenue and they had solved our problem. The delivery was to take place in the famous Mount Sinai Hospital on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue, facing Central Park.
The drive took about 45 minutes and we arrived at the hospital at around 4 or 5 pm. Over the next several hours Dina had a rather difficult time, with me by her side. First deliveries can be long, because the woman's body has not been through this experience before. She was making little progress until midnight. At that point the hospital shift changed and the new nurse on duty was very helpful. Dina's doctor arrived, too, and Caterina Cleopatra was born at around 1 am CDT, on Thursday, May 14, 1987.
The next day I called various relatives from the hospital, including my father's sister Cleopatra in Greece. I was going to tell her the news of the birth and that the baby was going to have her name, too. Aunt Cleopatra's husband answered the phone and I told him the news. 'Well', he said, 'we have just come back from your Aunt's funeral. Cleopatra died yesterday.'
Such 'semeia' and 'terata', signs and terrible wonders, haunt me throughout my life and I take them as proofs that God is always with me, as He is with every other person, to instruct and guide.
Dear readers, let us see how close to May 14 Archangel Heidi delivers little Leni.
Heidi is expected to give birth in New York, where Caterina Cleopatra was born, and she is attended by her mother Erna, the way that Dina was attended by her mother Irene. Heidi's father, Guenther, is back in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, taking care of business there, and will fly to New York, when Leni is born.
Like Czarina Dina, Empress Heidi has access to the best physicians of New York, the capital of the World, and her recent photographs show her absolutely lovely, happy, and radiant:
