'Our Troops' were used as human shields for policy. 'Support Our Troops' was in fact 'Support Our Policy because we now have these people'.
The juggernaut of patriotism sets sail with well wishes and tears to see them off. It is after they come back with the nightmares and diseases of war that the dock-chair patriots and the policy makers are nowhere to be found.
Parades are for send offs and returns but never for the consequences which last a life time.

Nicely put.
My favorite part of the original post, however, is this:
...European designs upon America have grown more subtle over the years: from obvious war (American Revolution and the War of 1812), to fomenting division (Civil War), to masterful psychological attack (clobbering a child-like faith in our troops.) Is it globalist? Or is it just a battle between imperialist forces scrambling to control diminishing economic potentials?
Can you say 'hit the nail on the head'? Pity the fool who wrote it tries to divert the point elsewhere.
