Remembering Nixon

I remember Watergate. Every day another little tidbit would come out. Another tiny unraveling. Nixon stood firm of executive privilege. He seemed impregnable, and completely undisturbed.

Then suddenly he announced his resignation. We later learned he had contemplated suicide (perhaps taking everyone on earth with him).

The Bush story has similarities. There is a ton more dirt. The media are covering for Bush in a way they did not for Nixon. But information is getting out slowly by word of mouth, the Internet and books. Bush seems imperturbed, but the cracks are getting wider, e.g. the drunk tape, the Jenna and Barbara accusation of molestation, the admitted lies about WMDS, the admitted phony Nigerian uranium

A story like that is the sort of thing a tabloid would print without any evidence at all that it is true, just to get sales and
